Crochet a heart

For my next project I am going to try and crochet a heart garland like this one or this one, out of this pretty peachy bamboo and cotton thread... I secretly really want to crochet a poncho but maybe I should practise a little bit more first and will I actually ever wear it??

Ooh look what I found today! The new issue of Frankie magazine, so exciting. I can't believe it only comes out every two months. I always get a feeling when it is due again and it made my day today when I saw it. I have already had a little read and a cry over one of the articles on the train on the way home, yay x

Bamboo-a-rama

This weekend we finally got to collect our bamboo bookcase from the op shop, where it has been the star of the window display for the last three weeks. All of a sudden I have developed an obsession with cane/bamboo furniture and we bought this little 1950's French cane couch after falling in love with it through the window of Angelucci's at night. It's not that often that me and the boy like the same piece of furniture so it was meant to be. Oh and the bookcase is collapsible!  We discovered this while trying to load it into the car...

After an amazing steak sandwich at Mileto's, my new fave, it was time for horrible grocery shopping on Chapel St.

Further along Chapel, while the boy was looking for records, I was taking pics of cool exposed brick and tiles x

Lovely lamp

This lovely lamp was abandoned by someone in Windsor and rescued by me! It needed some gluing  together and some bending back into shape but is now looking good. You can find some great roadside treasures in the Windsor/Prahran area but you have to get in quick before the other vultures snap them up :)

Glomesh

My wander along Glenhuntly Road yesterday turned up this Glomesh purse. I need a new one as mine is very Mum looking and now falling to pieces. I'm not sure if I will be able to fit all my cards in this one but it's cute and that's the most important thing!

Get your crochet on

My first attempts at crochet! It's pretty fun and I like that you can see results straight away, that's my kind of craft. I think I made up the stitches a bit when I was finishing the circular one but who knows... those patterns are pretty confusing. Thanks Alena, for being such a great teacher x

The gorgeous scarf and fingerless gloves Alena made for me. Maybe one day I will be able to whip up something like this

My beloved crochet garland by crayonchick that I bought at The Finders Keepers Markets in Melbourne.

A crochet day

Somehow this week I have three days off in a row... lovely! Today I am off to the lovely Alena's amazing house in Richmond, where she is going to teach me little bit of crochet, I am a lucky girl. I hope I have enough patience for it...
Alena gave me the beautiful jug above and my Great-grandmother made the doilies below, how clever is she?

A little bit of love...

One day I came across this poor old telephone table in a shop on Chapel street. She was looking a bit worse for wear and I felt sorry for her, so I decided to take her home and fix her up a bit. I repainted the black frame, covered the top with vintage embossed wallpaper and painstakingly removed the plastic piping from the old vinyl. I then handstitched the piping onto some denim fabric (that was a nasty job) and here she is! I would so love to learn how to upholster furniture properly then who knows what I could rescue...

Elsternwick to Windsor

A few pics from my walk yesterday... such a gorgeous day, I had way too much warm clothing on. The weather is so unpredictable at the moment, it's very hard to know what to wear. The day before was absolutely freezing!

Treasures on a Friday...

Last Friday, while out for a wander, I popped into an op shop I don't usually have any luck in. That day though, I had that feeling in my bones that I might find a treasure... and look what I came across! Three lovely vintage tablecloths...

and these matching containers... I keep buying things, thinking that one day I will sell them on but I just don't know if I can give these up x

A row of shoes...

As I wandered down Chapel St yesterday, I came across this row of shoes sitting on a park bench in the sun! I wonder what the story behind that was...

Magnolia

This morning, I am thinking about flowers... I took these pictures of Magnolia branches at work in London, a few years ago x
